Sexual Assault is more than ‘rape’. It is also unwanted touching, and inappropriate innuendos that affect one’s sexuality.
It is not about sex; it is about power and control.

- Get to a safe place.
- Call 9-1-1 immediately to report the assault.
- Seek medical attention as soon as possible.
- Do NOT shower, bathe, or douche.
- Do NOT change clothing.

Any sexual contact between immediate family members.
Sex in a marriage done to demean and humiliate the partner and/or done without the other’s consent. Any sexual touching of a child, regardless of how. It includes touching, fondling, exposure of an offender’s parts to a child, and intercourse. Any touching, sexual in nature, done against someone’s will. Unwanted sexual contact with someone the victim knows. Sexual contact, without consent, gained by force or threats, by someone the victim doesn't know. Inappropriate sexual conversation and actions, dating, or any other sexual contact engaged in by someone in a “helping” profession. Any unwanted verbal or physical contact or communication of a sexual nature. |
THE COST OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE:
The estimated cost of Sexual Violence in Minnesota was $8 billion in 2005.
"Local sexual assault advocacy programs are the single most effective way to ensure appropriate intervention . . . Yet, only $3.3 million of combined state and federal funds support services to help victims find resources - a fraction of the [estimated] victim costs of $90,540,000 per year."
